100% LIFE and Alliance for Public Health are joining forces to share with the international community Ukraine’s achievements, current challenges, and innovative solutions in public health, including those developed in response to the full-scale war with Russia.
The 26th International AIDS Conference — AIDS 2026, organized by the International AIDS Society (IAS), will take place from 26 to 31 July in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This global event traditionally brings together governments, researchers, civil society, and communities to collectively shape responses to the key challenges in the HIV field.
This year, 100% LIFE and Alliance for Public Health will focus on the resilience of communities in the face of global challenges. Their joint Global Village exhibition space, Ukraine’s Community Resilience: Global Lessons, will celebrate 25 years of community leadership in healthcare and social response. Our goal is to bring together activists, healthcare professionals, researchers, donors, and civil society organizations to exchange practical experience in supporting HIV, tuberculosis, harm reduction, mental health, and healthcare services during war, humanitarian crises, and social instability.
Ukraine’s participation provides an opportunity to showcase the country’s experience, amplify the voices of communities, and contribute to the global dialogue on the future of the HIV response.
The conference programme includes dedicated sessions on critically important topics, including restoring sustainable access to HIV treatment and prevention. Participants will discuss the challenges posed by reductions in international assistance, increasing pressure on national health systems, and the need to overcome structural barriers such as stigma, intellectual property restrictions, and procurement challenges. Special attention will also be given to emerging technologies and how they can be implemented without exacerbating inequalities.
The conference will also bring together more than 700 scholarship recipients from 93 countries, the majority of whom represent key populations and low- and middle- income countries. This highlights the importance of inclusivity and the meaningful engagement of those who are directly involved in the HIV response in their own countries.
IAS provides interpretation in more than 60 languages, making the conference accessible to participants around the world, both in person and online.
The participation of the Ukrainian delegation is a contribution to our shared global goal: ensuring equal, sustainable, and equitable access to HIV prevention, testing, and treatment services for everyone.
We sincerely thank our partners for supporting the participation of representatives from Ukraine.
Our gratitude goes to the Askold and Dir Foundation, administered by ISAR Ednannia within the framework of the project “Strong Civil Society of Ukraine – A Driver of Reforms and Democracy”, funded by Norway and Sweden.
