Our history

2001
Foundation

The founding of the All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS by a group of seven activists.

We began our journey in the fight for life.

2002
Opened an office in Kyiv

We have opened the organization’s first office in Kyiv.

We are confidently moving forward in building an active community of people living with HIV.

2003
First regional office

We have opened the first regional branch in Chernihiv.

Activists in the regions are actively expanding advocacy efforts.

2004
Uninterrupted Treatment

Activists of the organization prevented treatment interruptions for all 137 HIV patients who were receiving medication at that time.

We are actively working on developing the organizational capacity of the network.

2005
130 Organization Members

We created a legal department within the All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV and started providing legal consultations for people with HIV from all regions of Ukraine.

A new direction of activity supported by the Elton John Foundation – support for HIV-positive men who have sex with men.

2006
16 Regional Offices

International “Red Ribbon” Award — recognized as the best organization in the world in fighting stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV.

Visit of Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden and Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine of Sweden.

Reorganization of the National Coordination Council on HIV/AIDS Prevention.

2007
Became a Recipient of the Global Fund 

Contributed to the issuance of the Presidential Decree “On Additional Urgent Measures to Combat HIV/AIDS in Ukraine.”

Community centers of the Network operate in 21 cities.

Children’s centers of the Network – in 14 cities.

2008
Start of OST Program

A year of financial crisis amid a growing HIV epidemic in Ukraine.

Thanks to our systematic advocacy, Ukraine launched a methadone-based opioid substitution therapy (OST) program.

17 regional offices of the Network are operational.

2009
Beginning Cooperation with Church Representatives

Our joint short film with Time Line film company, Children, was submitted from Ukraine to the Cannes Film Festival.

The number of people living with HIV who received care and support services increased by 1.5 times: 24,250 adults and 4,246 children covered.

2010
Advocacy for Treatment Access

Thanks to our advocacy efforts with partners, the cost of antiretroviral therapy was reduced 27-fold.

Conducted the first “HIV Stigma Index” study — an international project involving organizations from over 40 countries.

19 regional offices of the Network are operational.

 

2011
553 Organization Members

Created the “Union of Women in Ukraine Affected by the HIV Epidemic.”

Dmytro Sherembei received the “For Courage” award at the European HIV Conference.

Became one of Ukraine’s best employers — bronze prize winner of the “Equal Opportunities” competition.

The organization’s financial assets increased by 91%.

2012
Start of ACCESS Project

Due to our advocacy, 47% more people living with HIV gained access to ART — 40,350 patients.

Joined the Coordination Council on Civil Society Development under the President of Ukraine.

Started implementing a five-year ACCESS project supported by the CDC.

2013
Became one of the main partners of USAID.

Started project activities supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Succeeded in approving a state target program for viral hepatitis treatment.

2014
Field Hospital in the Office

Deployed a community field hospital at the Network’s office, providing assistance to those injured during the Maidan.

Network activists from Donetsk and Luhansk, risking their lives, deliver ART to combat zones.

2015
25 Regional Offices

In partnership with WHO/UNITAID, launched a project to improve treatment access.

Launching the PROZZORO electronic procurement system in cooperation with TI, USAID, and the Ministry of Economy.

Developing a Medical Information System for electronic documentation of HIV-positive patients.

2016
PEPFAR Award and First Medical Center

PEPFAR Award for the best partnership among over 40 countries.

101,000 HIV patients gained access to treatment.

Together with the Ministry of Health and TI, started implementing the eHealth electronic healthcare system.

Opened the first “100% Life” medical center.

2017
First Place Among Ukrainian Charities

Achieved an 81% price reduction for hepatitis C medication.

Created the HIV TEST mobile app, available in Ukrainian, English, Russian, Georgian, Romanian, and Kazakh.

Ranked first in the Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum in 2017 and in 2018-2019 (ranking was not conducted afterward).

2018
Became 100% Life

We procure medications for 40% of all registered HIV-positive patients in the country.

The second “100% Life” medical center visited by legendary singer Sir Elton John.

Dmytro Sherembei’s book Sex. Drugs. God entered the National Registry of Records.

HIV TEST, DATACHECK, and the Transition Plan were presented at AIDS2018.

2019
Created the “Your Family Doctor” Brand

“Stop the Pain — Protect Citizens’ Rights” — a petition that launched a campaign supporting medical cannabis legalization.

Charity collaboration of fashion brands FROLOV X SOVA for 100% LIFE.

Social responsibility program for the “MISS UKRAINE UNIVERSE” contest.

Launched prozdorovia.in.ua with information on HIV, mental and sexual health, where oral HIV tests can be ordered.

2020
COVID-19 Pandemic

Delivering ART by mail to protect patients and ensure access to treatment.

Started building oxygen stations.

Achieved a 3-fold price reduction for Duranavir and challenged the patent for Bedaquiline, a tuberculosis drug. The patent for Lopinavir/Ritonavir was canceled.

Transition plan 20-50-80: increasing state funding for HIV response to 80%.

 

2021
100% Life Celebrates 20 Years

Four “100% Life” medical centers operate in Poltava, Kyiv, Rivne, and Chernihiv.

5 Effie Awards Ukraine for information campaigns within the HealhLink and Your Family Doctor projects.

Every third newly diagnosed HIV patient in Ukraine was identified by 100% Life.

2022
Russia’s Full-Scale War in Ukraine

28 new projects to save Ukrainian lives.

Emergency delivery of ART for 130,000 people living with HIV — distributed to all regions within three weeks.

Kyiv medical center operates as a humanitarian hub.

Evacuation of people from Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. Created a network of shelters.

Evacuated equipment from 4 hospitals in active combat zones in the East.

2 Million Ukrainians Received Our Help

Supporting 13 shelters.

Ranked 3rd among the TOP-50 charitable foundations in Ukraine by fundraising volume, according to Forbes Ukraine.

Repaired the bomb shelter of the National Children’s Hospital “OKHMATDYT” for HIV-positive children during air raids.

Established the European representation of 100% Life in Germany.

Over 1 million Ukrainians tested for HIV within the 7-year HealthLink project.

7 million services registered in our DATACHECK UKRAINE system over 7 years.

15 mobile sexual and reproductive health teams operate in hard-to-reach regions.

35,000 schoolchildren gained access to digital solutions and mental health support.

A person living with HIV can live a 100% full life by taking antiretroviral therapy:

To love freely, without the risk of transmitting the virus to a partner through sexгual contact. (The U=U principle — Undetectable = Untransmittable)

Have a life expectancy equal to that of a person without an HIV diagnosis
