History

The charitable organisation ‘Transcarpathian Charitable Society of People Living with HIV/AIDS’ began its activities with seven people who decided to form an initiative group in September 2014.

In November 2014, we became members of the All-Ukrainian Charitable Organisation ‘LJW’. In February 2015, we decided to register as the Transcarpathian Charitable Society of People Living with HIV/AIDS. Our main goal is to improve the quality of life of HIV-positive people and to foster a positive attitude on the part of society towards people living with HIV/AIDS.

Our achievements:

More than 600 HIV-positive residents of the Transcarpathian region (unfortunately, the number of HIV-positive people is increasing every year) regularly receive the necessary prevention, care and support services.

In addition, comprehensive activities are carried out on an ongoing basis at the State Institution ‘UVP No. 9’ with the aim of HIV prevention, care and support for PLHIV prisoners. Two of our representatives are members of the regional coordination council on tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS prevention in the Zakarpattia region.

Our organisation conducts public campaigns to draw the attention of the authorities and the population of the region to the problems of HIV-positive people, to foster tolerance and to reduce stigma and discrimination. Since 2016, we have been implementing project activities with funding from the Global Fund, which allows our team to grow professionally, gain new experience and increase our impact on the spread of HIV/AIDS in Zakarpattia Oblast.
