The charitable organization “Chernivtsi Charitable Society of the All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS” began its activities on December 15, 2004.
The Chernivtsi Charitable Society Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS was created and works for HIV-positive people, as well as patients with tuberculosis, hepatitis, and representatives of key risk groups.
Every step we take and every decision we make is aimed at overcoming the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Ukraine. The network works with patients and for patients. We represent the interests of PLHIV in three regions of Ukraine and actively fight to ensure that 100% of HIV patients have 100% access to treatment. Activists and professionals have come together to prove that HIV/AIDS is not a death sentence, and that serving a sentence is not a reason to write a person off. To this end, the organization provides social, legal, and psychological services, actively influences the system, and informs the community. Every year, the Network’s branch implements municipal projects funded by the Chernivtsi City Council. The Chernivtsi Network also operates a community center for PLHIV and their immediate families, which provides a range of services: consultations with social workers, psychologists, and lawyers; representation of clients’ interests; informational sessions for clients; self-help groups; and a daycare room for children.
From July 1 to December 22, 2016, the Chernivtsi City Council Network implemented the municipal project “People for People,” which was funded by the Chernivtsi City Council and aimed at holding regular self-help groups.
Since the beginning of 2017, the Chernivtsi Network Charitable Organization has been implementing the project “Time to Tell!” The goal is to inform young people about the mechanism of HIV transmission in the community and society, to reinforce knowledge about the degrees of risk of HIV infection, promoting tolerance towards people living with HIV, and encouraging safe sexual behavior in order to protect the health of young people in Chernivtsi through HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis prevention.
The Chernivtsi Network introduced a community service program funded by the city budget and the state insurance fund.
In January 2018, employees of the Charitable Organization Chernivtsi Network of People Living with HIV began work on the implementation of the project “Joint Efforts,” which is funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
In 2018, thanks to advocacy campaigns, the Chernivtsi Regional Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS achieved changes to the Comprehensive Social Program to Combat HIV /AIDS in the Chernivtsi region for 2015-2018 and helped allocate funding for children living with HIV/AIDS and children who have encountered this problem.
The organization runs a children’s center offering a wide range of services: developmental activities; work by psychologists with families raising children affected by HIV/AIDS; measures aimed at integrating HIV+ children into schools and kindergartens, etc.
In addition, since November 13, 2016, employees of the Charitable Organization ChBT Network have been implementing activities from the Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation under the project “Dreams Come True.”
