Medical-Legal Dialogue on Optimizing Drug Policy During Wartime

A Medical-Legal Dialogue on Optimizing Drug Policy During Wartime was held in Kyiv, bringing together representatives of civil society, academics, human rights advocates, and state institutions.

The event, titled “Optimizing Drug Policy in Conditions of War and Post-War Recovery,” aimed to promote the implementation of an effective drug policy based on human rights principles, investment in health, and the decriminalization of drug use. Participants discussed ways to coordinate intersectoral efforts and proposed practical steps for reforming drug policy approaches in Ukraine, particularly in the context of the ongoing war and the country’s future recovery.

The event was organized by the NGO “100% Life” within the framework of the project “SAMR: Progressive Community-Level Monitoring and Community Power,” supported by The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), as well as the V.V. Stashis Scientific Research Institute for the Study of Crime Problems of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine.

As part of the event, a Resolution with recommendations was prepared for the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Ministry of Health. (The resolution has been shared with stakeholders and published on the website.)
